How it works

Three small steps. No accounts to demo. No tracking. Just paste, wait a bit, and ask.

1

Paste a channel

Any YouTube channel works: your favorite podcaster, the creator you can't stop watching, that course with 200 episodes you'll never finish.

2

We do the watching

Behind the scenes, every video gets transcribed, broken into searchable pieces, and indexed. A 100-episode channel is usually ready in an hour.

3

Ask anything

Type a question like you'd text a friend who's seen everything. You'll get a clear answer plus the videos it came from, ready to click and watch.

Made for the obsessed

If you've ever rewatched the same channel three times trying to find that one quote, yeah, this is for you.

Always fresh

When they upload, we re-ingest. Your library grows with the creator's library. No stale snapshots.

Real citations

Every answer shows the videos behind it. Click any source to watch the moment yourself. No black-box vibes.

Yours, privately

Your questions run on infrastructure we own. No OpenAI, no analytics pixels, no resold prompts.

Feeds your second brain

One click copies any answer as clean Markdown, timestamped source links and all. Paste it straight into Obsidian, Notion, or any editor.

Things people ask

Is this legal? Doesn't it copy the videos?
Argot never hosts videos and never reproduces full transcripts as a substitute for watching. It indexes publicly-available captions and points users back to the original videos with clickable timestamps, the same pattern the courts upheld in Authors Guild v. Google for indexing books. Every answer drives traffic to YouTube, never away from it.
What if a creator wants their channel removed?
Public opt-out form. One click, immediate removal. No questions, no friction. We're a search tool over public content; we have zero interest in being adversarial with creators.
What models power Argot?
Currently nomic-embed-text (768-dim) for retrieval and qwen2.5 for answer generation, both running locally, so no third-party AI APIs see your queries. Hybrid search merges vector similarity and BM25 with reciprocal rank fusion.
How fresh is the data?
Pro and above re-check subscribed channels daily; new videos are typically indexed within a few hours of upload. Free tier is monthly.
Can I use Argot to research my own content?
Yes. Creators are explicitly welcome: drop in your own channel and use Argot as a "what have I already said about X?" tool to avoid repeating yourself or to remix old material into shorts, threads, and posts.
Why "Argot"?
An argot is the private vocabulary of a community: the shorthand insiders use that outsiders have to learn. Every channel you follow has one, whether it's a podcast, a course, or a niche you're deep in. Argot indexes the creators who speak it, so you can ask in their language and get the exact moment they explained it.
